ประวัติ[แก้]
ภายหลังจากการคัดพลดับเบิลยูดับเบิลยูอี (อังกฤษ: WWE Brand Extension) เมื่อวันที่ 19 กรกฎาคม ค.ศ. 2016 ซึ่งเป็นแชมป์ WWE Women's Championship ได้ถูกดราฟท์ไปอยู่รอว์ ทำให้ทางฝั่งสแมคดาวน์ไม่มีแชมป์หญิงทำให้ในสแมคดาวน์ เมื่อวันที่ 23 สิงหาคม ผู้จัดการทั่วไปแดเนียล ไบรอัน และผู้ควบคุมสแมคดาวน์เชน แม็กแมน ได้ออกมาเผยโฉมเข็มขัดแชมป์หญิงเส้นใหม่ของสแมคดาวน์โดยให้ชื่อว่า WWE SmackDown Women's Championship
พร้อมกันนี้ทั้งสองยังได้กล่าวอีกว่าจะมีการชิงเข็มขัดเส้นนี้เป็นครั้งแรกในแบ็กแลช (2016) โดยเป็นแมตช์ Six-Pack Challenge ประกอบไปด้วยนักมวยปล้ำหญิงจำนวน 6 คนได้แก่ คาร์เมลลา, เบกกี ลินช์, นิกกี เบลลา, นาตาเลีย, อเล็กซา บลิส และเนโอมี หากนักมวยปล้ำคนใดเอาชนะนักมวยปล้ำทั้งหมดได้ก็จะได้ครอบครองเข็มขัดเส้นนี้เป็นคนแรก[2] โดยเบกกี ลินช์เป็นผู้คว้าเข็มขัดเส้นนี้เป็นคนแรก[3]
